UBUNTU BIRTH AND BEREAVEMENT COMPANIONS CLOSING THE GAP

Ubuntu Birth and Bereavement Companions CIC is the first organisation in Merseyside to offer free, culturally sensitive birth partner support to Black African mothers, including asylum seekers and refugees. We are also the only organisation in the area providing a free hot meal every Saturday.

Many community meal projects operate only on weekdays, which leaves vulnerable mothers and children struggling over the weekend. For some families, this means that children who normally rely on school meals go hungry when schools are closed. By offering a nutritious hot meal on Saturdays in our safe space, Ubuntu helps to close this gap — ensuring that mothers and their children have access to food, warmth, and a supportive community at the end of each week.

Access to our Baby Bank

We provide predominantly but not exclusively Black African Mothers with access to our “baby bank” this will provide them with valuable resources such as baby clothes, prams, car seats, nappies, and hygiene items to alleviate the economic burden of raising am newborn child. We know finances can be a huge stress for mothers raising a baby. We can also connect you with a variety of other financial advice services to support you for as long as you need it.

If you have excess baby items such as car seats and clothes, then please consider donating them to us so we can provide more support to local predominantly but not exclusively Black African Mothers. Your donations can make a huge impact on the lives of mothers who need support.
