Meet the Ubuntu Volunteer Team

Serving with compassion, standing with purpose

At the heart of Ubuntu is a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time, energy, and compassion to support families in our community. They are the quiet strength behind our work, the listening ears, the helping hands, and the voices of hope for those who need it most.

Our mission is simple but powerful: no one should face childbirth or grief alone. This belief guides everything we do, and it is brought to life each day through the commitment of our volunteers.

Ubuntu volunteers come from diverse backgrounds, each bringing unique experiences, skills, and perspectives. What unites them is a shared passion for making a difference. Whether supporting mothers through the challenges of navigating the UK maternity system, offering comfort to families experiencing loss, or helping to organise community events and workshops, every volunteer plays a vital role.

Their work is not always easy. Supporting individuals through childbirth and bereavement requires empathy, patience, and emotional resilience. Yet, our volunteers continue to show up with kindness and dedication, creating safe spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported.

Beyond direct support, the team is also instrumental in building awareness, advocating for better services, and strengthening community connections. Through their efforts, Ubuntu continues to grow as a trusted space where families can find both practical help and emotional support.

Being part of Ubuntu is more than volunteering, it is about belonging to a community that cares deeply for one another. It is about standing together in both joy and sorrow, and ensuring that no one walks their journey alone.

To our incredible volunteer team, thank you. Your commitment embodies the true spirit of Ubuntu: “I am because we are.”
