Supporting Mothers with Compassion from Pregnancy to Parenthood

At Ubuntu Birth and Bereavement Companions CIC, we believe that no mother should face pregnancy or early motherhood alone. Becoming a parent is a life-changing experience, but for many women especially refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and those without family support. It can also be overwhelming and isolating.

Our volunteers provide compassionate emotional support to mothers throughout pregnancy and after birth. We offer a listening ear, encouragement, reassurance and practical guidance to help mothers feel confident, valued and supported during one of the most important times in their lives.

Alongside emotional support, Ubuntu provides age-appropriate baby starter packs to families experiencing financial hardship. Each pack is carefully tailored to meet the baby’s age and developmental stage, ensuring families receive the most suitable items for their child’s needs.

Our baby starter packs may include:

* Age-appropriate baby clothing
* Nappies and wipes
* Blankets and bedding
* Baby toiletries
* Feeding essentials
* Moses baskets
* Car seats
* Baby walkers
* Prams and pushchairs
* Cots and travel cots
* High chairs
* Baby baths
* Toys and developmental items
* Other essential baby equipment (subject to availability)

Every baby starter pack is lovingly prepared through the generosity of our supporters, donors and community partners.

We know that receiving practical help alongside emotional support can make a huge difference to a mother’s wellbeing, reduce stress and help families welcome their new baby with dignity and confidence.
