Ubuntu Launch and Christmas Celebration: A Beautiful Day of Community, Culture, and Joy
On Saturday 6th December 2025, we officially launched Ubuntu Birth and Bereavement Companions CIC, marking a powerful milestone for our community. The day was filled with warmth, unity, and celebration as families, mothers, children, partners, volunteers, and supporters gathered to honour the spirit of Ubuntu “I am because we are.”
A Memorable Christmas Experience
As part of our launch, we combined the event with a festive Christmas celebration. The atmosphere was full of laughter, music, and excitement especially from the children, who were treated to a truly magical experience.
One of the highlights of the day was the arrival of Santa Claus, who brought joy to every child with personalised gifts. Seeing the excitement on the children’s faces reminded us why community support is so important. For many families, these gifts were more than just presents; they were a sign that they are seen, supported, and valued.
Entertainment for the Kids
Throughout the afternoon, children enjoyed a range of fun activities and entertainment. From dancing and games to creative stations, we made sure every child felt included and celebrated. Their energy brought life to the room and reminded us that the heart of Ubuntu lies in the well-being of every family.
Traditional Dances That Brought Us Home
A standout moment of the event was the beautiful traditional African dances performed by community members and cultural groups. The drums, the rhythm, and the vibrant movements filled the hall with life and pride. These performances honoured our heritage, connected us to our roots, and reminded us of the richness of African culture. The dances created an atmosphere that felt like home, celebrating who we are and where we come from a perfect reflection of the Ubuntu spirit.
Culturally Appropriate Food and Community Connection
No Ubuntu gathering would be complete without delicious, culturally appropriate food. Our catering team and volunteers prepared a rich variety of African traditional dishes that felt like home to many of our mothers and families. The food connected us back to our cultures, our identities, and our shared experiences and it brought everyone together around the table.
Honouring Our Community and Volunteers
The success of the launch would not have been possible without the tireless work of our volunteers, directors, supporters, and partner organisations. From cooking and decorating to planning, fundraising, entertaining, and offering cultural performances, each person played a crucial role. This event was a true reflection of Ubuntu where everyone’s contribution, big or small, strengthens the whole community.
Why This Launch Matters
Ubuntu Birth and Bereavement Companions CIC was created to provide culturally sensitive birth partner support, grief and bereavement services, and a safe space for African and migrant mothers. Launching this organisation with so much love and community presence reaffirmed why this work is essential.
Our weekly activities, emergency support, baby bank services, and culturally aware care are all rooted in compassion and community empowerment. The launch was not just a celebration it was a promise. A promise to stand with mothers when they need it most, to listen, to advocate, and to offer support grounded in culture and dignity.
A Future Built on Ubuntu
As we move forward, we carry with us the joy of this celebration and the strength of everyone who joined us. Our Christmas party and launch event reminded us that when we come together mothers, children, volunteers, supporters, and partners we create something truly powerful.
Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, supported, or simply believed in the vision of Ubuntu CIC. Together, we are building a community where no woman stands alone.
